Nobel Lecture

2009 Nobel Prize laureate, Dr. Ramakrishnan (MRC Laboratory, UK) will give a lecture in Hokkaido Univ.

Dr. Ramakrishnan received the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome, the large molecular machine that makes proteins in all cells. In this lecture, geared toward non-scientists, he will explain what the ribosome is, how it works and how many antibiotics work by preventing the ribosome from functioning.

Title: "The Ribosome: The cell's protein factory and how antibiotics block it"
Date: Friday, June 18, 15:00-
Venue: Hokkaido Univ. Conference Hall, 1F Auditorium (GAKUJUTU-KORYU-KAIKAN)
Admission: Free
