Last school year, the International Education Collaboration Support Team of the International Affairs Division developed, in conjunction with the Center for Research and Development in Higher Education (CRDHE), an FD Program for Teaching in English to support faculty members offering their lectures in English. The aim of the project was to create an adaptable program for graduate schools considering offering courses in English. The six part workshop consisted of demo lessons, peer reviews, and discussions on themes related to teaching in English. Participating faculty were able to improve their practical skills through constructive feedback as they exchanged opinions with one another. After the completion of the program, the participants were recognized by President Saeki in a ceremony held on March 31. Following the ceremony, the six participants had the opportunity to discuss the program and offer their opinions with not just President Saeki, but also with Executives and Vice Presidents Minoru Wakita, and Takeo Hondoh, as well as the CRDHE staff. Each participant gave their opinions and the discussion ranged from the advantages of implementing similar FD programs extensively at the university, to ideas for improving ways of meeting different needs, to opinions concerning internationalization. The CRDHE will continue the development of FD programs for the implementation of English-language lectures.
