Graduate Students Introduced to English Teaching and Writing Methods in University of California, Berkley Workshop

On March 18 - 19 and 22 - 24, the Workshop in English - Preparing Future Faculty: An Introduction to Teaching and Writing for Graduate Students was held at the Multimedia Education Building under the sponsorship of the Center for Research and Development in Higher Education (CRDHE).

The workshop is one that is given at the University of California, Berkley to prepare graduate students for a future in academics through instruction in teaching and writing, and was offered at Hokkaido University in order to determine the feasibility of this type of teaching and writing instruction at HU and to expand their ways of internationalizing education.

Panel discussions, as well as teaching and writing instruction were the focus of the workshop, and 27 participants and 16 observers involved in faculty development attended. A certificate of completion was presented to each student and a certificate of participation to each observer on the final day.
