Q1) How many subjects can I apply for?
A) While there is no upper limit, a guide is to limit the number of Japanese language subjects, including Japanese Seminar, to six or fewer. As for Co-learning Multicultural Classrooms subjects, a guide is to limit the number to three or fewer.

Q5) Can I take an A class on Monday and a B class on Tuesday?
A) No, you can’t. You need to take two A classes or two B classes. You can’t move from an A class to a B class, or vice versa, on different days of the week even if the same instructor teaches both classes.
Q6) Can I take only Kanji & Vocabulary?
A) Yes, you can; however, it would be difficult for you to understand classes on kanji if you don’t know the grammar at all. We recommend you to also take Introductory Grammar or Survival Japanese.
Q7) What are the differences between Introductory Grammar and Survival Japanese?
A) Introductory Grammar is offered over four quarters per year and Survival Japanese is offered over two semesters per year. Introductory Grammar has three weekly classes and Survival Japanese has two weekly classes. Survival Japanese is for improving conversation ability necessary for everyday life. You will need self-study for improving your understanding of the grammar as classes are mainly used to practice conversations.

Q13) Can I learn Japanese through Japanese Seminar?
A) Of course, you can. By taking Japanese Seminar, you will learn about Japanese society and culture as well as master academic Japanese necessary for university study.

[About the Placement Test]
Q1) I am a new student. Is it OK for me not to take the Placement Test?
A) You must take the test if you are taking the General Japanese Course for the first time. However, introductory learners of Japanese need not take the test as they are automatically allocated to Introductory Level 1.
Q2) I am a continuing student. Is it OK for me not to take the Placement Test?
A) You do not have to take the test. Please note that if you took Survival Japanese before and are applying for Introductory Japanese Grammar or Intermediate subjects this semester, you are required to sit the Placement Test. You also need to take the Placement Test if you are changing from Introductory Grammar to Survival Japanese.
Q3) What do I need when I take the Placement Test?
A) You only need an available device and an internet connection. Placement tests must be taken individually during the placement test period. You can take the placement test online from anywhere in the world.
Q4) How long does the Placement Test take?
A) It will take about 1-2 hours when you apply the test until you receive the test result. The test itself is about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Q5) Can I use dictionaries during the Placement Test?
A) No, you can’t. The test is for accurately assessing your Japanese language level. Answer all questions without using any help.
Q6) Can I take the Placement Test twice?
A) Yes, you can. You can take as many test as you want during the placement test period.
Q7) An error occurred during the Placement Test and I couldn’t continue the test.
A) Please re-apply and take the placement test again. If you still have problems, please try to do the things as follows. Taking the test again with an environment with a good Internet connection, change your browser (the recommended browser is Chrome), or change your device.
Q8) I can’t read the text of the test (Japanese) on my computer.

Q9) I have completed the test. What do I need to do next?
A) Please save the results of your score you receive from TTBJ by an Email. Please regisiter classes based on the scores when you apply online. Please save the score report to prepare that you can show it when it is needed in your first class.
