8月27日、本学理学部建物において、大学院学生1名がフッ化水素酸を被る事故が発生し、搬送先の病院で亡くなられました。また、救助にあたった学生2名も軽傷を負いました。
亡くなられた学生のご冥福を心よりお祈りするとともに、ご遺族の皆様に謹んでお悔やみ申し上げます。
学生の皆さんが日々学び、研究に取り組む本学でこのような痛ましい事故が起きたことに、驚きや不安を感じている学生の皆さんや関係者も多いことと思います。本学では、現在、関係機関と連携しながら事故の原因や事実関係の調査を進めています。
今回の知らせを受け、強い不安や動揺を感じている方もいることと思います。そのような状態が続く場合や、勉学や日常生活に支障を感じたりする場合には、一人で抱え込まず、学生相談支援センターや保健センターなどを利用してください。
本学は、学生の皆さんが安心して学び、研究に取り組むことのできる環境を守る責任があります。今回の事故を厳粛に受け止め、原因の究明と安全確保に取り組んでまいります。

On August 27, an accident occurred in a building of the Faculty of Science in which a graduate student was exposed to hydrofluoric acid. The student was taken to the hospital but later passed away. Two other students who assisted in the rescue sustained minor injuries.
We offer our deepest condolences on the loss of the student and extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
We understand that this tragic accident at the University, where our students study and conduct research every day, may have caused shock and anxiety among our students, their families, and others concerned. The University is currently working with the relevant authorities to investigate the cause and circumstances of the accident.
Some of you may be experiencing considerable anxiety or distress following this news. If these feelings persist or begin to affect your studies or daily life, please do not face them alone. We encourage you to seek support from the Student Counseling and Support Center, the Health Care Center, or other available support services.
The University has a responsibility to provide an environment in which all students can study and conduct research safely and with peace of mind. We take this accident with the utmost seriousness and will continue our efforts to determine its cause and ensure safety.
